This residency conference is run by preceptors for our residents and the profession. Your active participation as a moderator and/or evaluator is needed to continue the collegial environment that has been created since the early 1970s. All preceptors are required to serve as a moderator or evaluator. Every effort will be made to accommodate special requests so your slot is not scheduled during your resident's presentation. The time commitment is typically a single session (during 5 or 6 fifteen-minute presentations) at some point during the two day meeting.

What is the difference between an evaluator and a moderator at SERC?
Evaluators attend the presentation, gather evaluation forms and provide the presenter feedback immediately after their presentation. Moderators introduce the speaker, assure that the session stays on time and overall facilitation of each session.
How do I submit my name?
The moderator and evaluator schedule is created in mid-March, based on residency programs scheduled to present and preceptor registrants. Preceptors who register for the conference will designate their interest in being a moderator, evaluator or either (no preference).
Please submit your name and program name to:

How will I find out when I am scheduled to moderator or evaluate?
The schedule for presenters, as well as moderator and evaluator assignments will be posted on the web site approximately 3 to 4 weeks in advance of the conference – please check back. Preceptors serving in one of these roles are encouraged to attend the Moderator/Evaluator breakfast on Thursday morning. Information packets including your assignment and additional information will be available at the registration desk on Wednesday evening or Thursday at the breakfast session.
What if I commit and my plans change?
We understand. Please let us know the name of the alternate preceptor from your program who will be serving as your replacement. It is important that you describing the change in advance of the conference.
